waaaaat up!

Hit the bricks just came on my itunes. These guys remind me of Vancouver every time I hear them. So so good.
Canada is one of those countries where people got it right. And although I only spent a week in Vancouver I got to go to 2 sweet local shows and a house party.
See I was in Boston for my cousins wedding. That was great and all but Nelly was over in Van and I really wanted to visit him. 2 weeks with family in Boston just was not happening! So I sorted out the flights from Boston to Seattle. Nelly arranged for his friend Caithy to meet me in Seattle and show me where the greyhound bus to Vancouver was. So I departed Boston early on a Tue 14th of Oct. I had spent 410 dollars on flights so spending money was rationed. I knew I had a stop over in Arizona. But I didn't think about how fucking far down America it was! 6 HOURS(same as flight from Dublin to Boston!)So I had 1 hour to kill there until my flight to Seattle. Went straight out into the Nevada sun! Just desert everywhere. Got a sudden feeling of adventure. Here I am half way around the world in Arizona! The flight to Seattle was great. I got a window seat and looked in awe at the rockies. Then snow capped mountain tops that seemed too close to the plane for my liking! So I landed in Seattle around 4pm. I had a rough idea what Caithy looked like but still wasn't too sure, So I popped out for a smoke and headed back into the airport. About 25 minutes of walking around minding my own business I got a tap on the shoulder. LEE? yeah Caithy? yep. Sorted. Relief set in. I was nearly in Vancouver. So we went to get a bus to Seattle City. It was a nice bus trip. We chatted about whats good about our Cities. I could see us getting closer and closer to the city. I was really looking forward to seeing Seattle. In an another place to tick off on the globe kind of way. We went straight to the greyhound station to get my ticket. Buses there are a lot different. I needed my passport to get my Ticket. I forgot about the border patrol. So Caithy recommended I get a one way ticket to prevent confusion coming back. So I had 2 hours to kill. We went into the main city. It was not what I expected at all. I mean it was a nice city but I felt on edge a lot. There was a lot of homeless people and bums everywhere. Especially in the bus station. But I wasn't going to let it effect my visit to Seattle. So we went to mickey d's and got coffee. Sat and chatted. Nelly was texting her the whole time. I was getting excited to see him. I wanna be on the bus already!
So I go to the greyhound station again and say goodbye and thanks to Caithy. The driver greeted me at the end of the q.
Our conversation went like this:

Driver: So your going to Vancouver??

Me: yep!

Driver: Passport?

Me: here ya go.

Driver: why one way?

Me: (worst answer ever, but honest) Because I don't know when I'm coming back...

Driver: So what do you think the authorities will say to that?

Me: Ah no I'm coming back next week, I just don't know when exactly.

Driver: You know they will charge you 75 dollars per day. 5 days is $375

Me: I only have $300, but I have my flight details of my flights back next week.

So I was shitting it getting on the bus. Firstly because I might not even get in! Then I mite get in and have no money. I just wanted to be in Nelly's place smoking some fine ass BC weed. The bus took 2hrs 20mins to get to the border. The time flew and I was starting to drift off just as we got to the border. We all had to get off and because I was the only one not from Can I had to go to a different section to get through. I stood in front of a mounty looking guard. Not that he was dressed as a mounty. He was big and young. He could of taken me like! haha. So he ushers me over with his huge finger! Asked what I was doing in Vancouver. Visiting a friend. Where are you staying? I don't know the address. Okay follow me I need to clear your passport. I went in through a big glass door and seen a group of mexicans sitting down looking bored to death. I didnt look or ask anything, Just waited for my mounty to bring back my passport. Which he did with a friendly smile and a "have a great stay" I approached my bus driver all proud and he informed me that the mexican family didn't have the right ID, Then I seen the bus full of people that had been waiting on them for 2 hours. Lame I thought. Had a smoke and jumped on the my bus.
I was so excited to see Vancouver and Nelly. It was really dark at this stage. So I got cozy and gazed out the window the whole way. I had a book but preferred to read the landscape. I thought about all the people that Traveled down this exact road feeling the exact same way I was. So we start arriving into the city. I looked at everything. People, houses, signs, roads and everything! We arrived at the station. I walked through the station looking for Nelly, but I was early so went out for a smoke. As soon as I walked out the main station doors I was greeted my a huge building with a massive glowing red VAN CITY sign on the top. I looked around, seen the sky train and small park directly in front of me. I had my smoke and a homeless Asian guy with no shoes came up and said "please my sister died of hiv" I just said I had no change and im sorry, I walked back in and sat down. Soon Nelly arrived in his amazing blue flannel, with his friend isaiah. We hugged and were both obviously stoked to see each other. I still wanted to just be in a comfort zone and chill. So we went straight to the sky train. Nelly gave me his house mates ticket so I didn't have to pay. We got off a couple of stops down the line. I gave Nelly a pack of smokes since I still had a few duty free packs. Isaiah legged it on his long board :) and we walked towards his place. The air was crisp and I felt at ease. We arrived at his apartment and I met his house mate Amy. I knew I was a stranger to her so I was polite and all that jazz. Plus if she could handle Colin Mifsud for 2 weeks Id be grand haha. We played guitar hero and a while and Amy went to bed. So I pulled my air mattress over towards the tv and nelly slept on the couch.. I think. We watched Last Samuari, But I fell asleep. Mostly because I was wrecked but mostly because Tom cruise... snorr haha sorry Nelly. Nelly didn't have work the next day so we went downtown. It was great. Its not huge so we walked around and nelly showed me the local spots. And Army navy! The best part of rain city is the fact that nobody cares about fashion so your main concern in winter is keep warm. way it should be! We got something to eat and headed back. We were playing some guitar hero and Cian arrived back from work. I had never met him before. He seemed friendly enough. I guess we both sussed each other out in a friendly way. I like him almost instantly, same with Amy. I knew Nelly had a lot of friends there so I was prepared to meet and greet a lot. Isaiah called over and it was time to get weed. We walked down to a small park about 20 mins away. I gave Isaiah $20 for two dime bags. Me and nelly chilled at a shop while he went and got it. He knows the lingo, like "yo where the weed at!" So I rubbed open a bag and had a smell. I nearly shit myself it was that good! We got home and 2 more of Nellys friends had arrived. Josh and Dan. I rolled up a doobie. We smoked it on the balcony with Josh. Rest of that night is a bit of a blur haha. Nelly was in work the next day. So at 9am I woke up. I had to wake and bake! I thought the apartment was empty. So I smoked it on the balcony. Them sat down to watch no country for old men. I was all set and pretty high. About 30 mins into it Amy came out of her room. I was quickly aware that I was high and she was straight edge. So she sat down and I tried my best to hold a proper conversation. It wasn't long till she said "Are you high?" Yes, yes I am, But its like 9am! haha im on holidays. It had to be done. so we chilled and chatted until the lads came home.
The next big thing to happen was the first of two shows I went to. Hit the Bricks were playing with Isaiah's new band. Persistance of time. They were really good, isaiah is such a good front man. Dropping the n bomb all over the place because he can! haha. But hit the brick were amazing! I had got into em a few months previous and was so stoked to see them. I met them before they played as they are Nellys best mates, Brad Chris and Mike we the guys that I got to hang with mostly. Everyone at the show smoked and was high. Which was great because I had no paro buzz about sober people giving me looks or whatever. Folsom were meant to play the next night but didn't get through the border. Happens a lot apparently. Which really blows but they made the most of it. There was such a sense of unity. Also felt a lot like home. Like I see new people at shows in Dublin standing on their own. I was suddenly this guy in Vancouver. Nelly kept an eye on me but I was happy to let him do his thing with his friends. Besides he was coming home 2 weeks after me. So the 2nd night I got talking to the guys from slingshot before they played. Real friendly so it was grand. Me and nelly headed back after the show and got high as fuck! So that was it until the party. Josh and his "girl" friend from seattle came to Nelly's place and we went to get drink. We got back and jumped in her car to go the party. We hit a bar a good bit away where we met. Matt, Chris and Brad. I didnt know anyone else's name. But Matt decided because I was Irish that we had to shot the strongest stuff from the bar. 50-50 I think it was called. Burned me so bad! but good. Cheers Matt. We went to smoking area and Brad talked about the time he got head butted in belfast during the barntown/go it alone show. Anyway word got around that we were being rowdy and to keep it down. Me Nelly and Isaiah we pretty tanked from the bottle of JD earlier so we headed the party. The house was pretty big and in a real nice area. We were the riff raff for the night haha. I drank and smoked. and drank some more. we laughed danced sang. and got sick in the morning. Drove back to Nellys in the morning and my stay was nearly over. I had to leave at 5am to get the first greyhound bus to seattle. So we sat up. Cian and Amy stayed up too which was really nice. Before I knew it I was packed and had said goodbye and thanked them for their hospitality. Nelly waited out in the cold wet with me for the taxi who had got lost. It finally pulled up. It was pretty sad saying goodbye but it was only 2 weeks till I seen him again. Everyone I had met had been so nice and welcoming. The greyhound driver was the sweetest woman I have ever met. I was trying to sleep in the same seat I sat in coming up. She gave me her personal pillow and said it would have me asleep in seconds! Which it did. I woke up at the border. Then I woke up in Seattle with drool all over her pillow haha. I wiped it as much as I could, exited the bus and made my way back to the airport. My adventure was coming to an end. Seattle to Philadelphia to boston. Uncle and brother picked me up and the next day I flew back to Dublin. Two weeks later I walked out of my Job. Thank you for opening my eyes Van City. See you again!

so.....

Last night I went out. I was still a bit sick, but I got pretty hammered, I went to my friends apartment beside voodoo and had a few shites!! and got some sweet weed for the verse tour next week! yusss. It was nice to socialise again, bummed into shane kenna at antics and had the chats. Its always a funny trip to the toilet in that place when people are hammered, like last night i overheard a guy saying to another guy "did you know aliens built the pyramids!" and the other guys shouts out "DID YOU KNOW THAT GLEN DA LOCH IS OLDER THAN THE PYRAMIDS!!" " ITS A HUMAN FACT!". But then the guy talking about aliens started talking to me about it, I was into that topic! But the other guy wouldnt let it go! kept saying "GLEN DA LOCH!" AND "HUMAN FACT"! He got real passionate and agro about it, we fucking told him we heard him and gave him the "wow sweet" reaction, but he wouldnt drop it! then after a few minutes of this we were nearly back on the dancefloor and the guy stops and goes.."why am i getting so angry over this?"

THANK YOU
FUCKING HELL!!

good night though

now i feel sick again! javascript:void(0)

housebound

So I have been at home since sunday night, its now wednesday evening and this is the longest I have stayed in my house in a long time. I dont like it.
Im usually always on the go. I have been sort of sick too which helped the staying in an easy option, I was really weak, couldnt sleep till early hours, chest is kinda sore too.

So I cleaned my room properly, played alot of wii fit, drew alot, Showed my little brother some thing on guitar, He is 16 and thats the age I started playing, Iv been trying to get him to play for about 2 years now. Guess I just had to wait till he had the actual want. Hope he sticks to it.

Staying home would be so much easier if I had a little weed or smoke, I was really looking forward to find a way practice tomorrow but dave cant make it so we aint jamming :/ but tomorrow im going out! meeting people for coffee :) maybe hang out with my ex workmate in his too.
plus I will be out all week next week so i cant complain.

Hit me up if you're around tomorrow

FIND A WAY

Being in find a way turned out to be one of the most positive things ever to happen to me.
It was always real easy and laid back, laughing at the songs we were writing in Sean's shed, getting introduced to Zach's stage presence!! getting so much good feedback, practice is always about the chats! I am real excited for people to hear the new songs that we've recorded but not played yet.
Recently at a local show (where everyone is scattered around the venue) I noticed that just the 5 of us were outside having the chats again, made me think about it a lot more and how much I love it, and how much I love the lads in the band.
